The Calabash Elks Lodge Veterans Affairs Committee (VAC) recently participated in the “Smiles for Veterans” program, held in conjunction with the East Carolina University (ECU) School of Dental Medicine Clinic.

During this special day, pre-qualified, low-income veterans received dental treatment at no cost. The Calabash Elks VAC was proud to support this important program with a $1,000 Elks National Foundation Freedom Grant, helping cover the cost of dental services provided to participating veterans.

A team of eight VAC members was also on hand to welcome and socialize with veterans as they arrived for their dental procedures, providing coffee, donuts, and plenty of Elks hospitality.

By the end of the day, 29 veterans had received more than $12,500 worth of dental care, made possible through the generous support of the Calabash Elks and other veterans organizations throughout the Brunswick County area.

It was a great day of service and a true honor for the Calabash Elks to help support this invaluable program and give back to those who have given so much for our country.

Serving our veterans is one more way Elks Care — Elks Share!
